In 2008, there was an international competition held by ThyssenKrupp Elevator. The topic of the competition was “new face for Dubai”. Fernando Donis won this competition with his stunning idea of the Dubai Frame over 900 entries.

In 2013, the construction of the frame started and after 10 years of the competition, in 2018, the Dubai frame was opened to the public.

  • The elevator that takes guests to the top floor is one of the fastest elevators as it reaches to the top in just 75 seconds!
  • The Dubai frame is 170 meters high and 95 meters wide.
  • More than 15000 square meters of gold colored stainless steel was used to cover the Dubai Frame.
  • The design pattern on the Dubai frame (the ring pattern) is inspired by the Dubai Expo 2020 logo design.

The nearest metro station is Max Metro Station. From here you can catch a bus f09 to reach the entrance of the Dubai Frame. From Max Metro Station, it is 10 minutes walkable.

What to expect at the Dubai Frame

There are three galleries in the frame that connect you with the past, present and the future of the dubai.

Dubai in its early years was a fishing town. Its transformation to the now-modern metropolis is fascinating. In this gallery, you will see the exhibition where they tell you about how dubai people use to live, their daily routines, daily routine items, houses, construction, etc.

It’s a real visual treat where you can see, hear and smell the old Dubai.

There are 3D projections, strategic lighting all over the gallery to create a fascinating impression of the old Dubai.

This is the first gallery you encounter when you enter the Dubai Frame.

Present Dubai

After the Old Dubai gallery, you will be directed to the sky viewing deck on the top by taking the lift that will take you there within 75 seconds.

Here you will get to see the old Dubai and the New Dubai without any interruption. On the north side- Old Dubai and on the South- New Dubai. The difference is prominent with the construction and the height of buildings.

Here, you will also find different screens where you can identify the buildings you are seeing (iconic landmarks).

You can also walk on the glass bridge which is altogether an amazing experience.

When you exit from the elevator, you will be directed to the future gallery where special audio and visual effects welcome you. There is a 3D projection where they show how Dubai will look in the future. All the aspects such as healthcare, education, transportation, nature, cross-breeding, etc are shown and how they are extensively using advanced technology to achieve betterment in the future.
