Burj Khalifa needs no introduction. It is crowned as the world’s tallest building situated in Dubai. It is a testament of human marvel.
The EMAAR Group is the owner of this iconic landmark. EMAAR is one of the constructors and owners in Dubai who have created many such skyscrapers.
The architecture of Burj Khalifa is an excellent example of Islamic architecture. It is shaped in “Y” seamlessly integrating three structural elements into a singular core, symbolizing unity and strength.[1] Now you might wonder how it looks like Y. Let me clear the air here.
When you look at the satellite image of Burj Khalifa, it looks something like this-

History And Architecture of the Burj Khalifa
Let’s have a look at how the Burj Khalifa was built-
It’s a wonder how this huge building was envisioned and built. Let’s have a look at that-
- The construction began in 2004-2005.
- With the use of high-performance concrete the structure of this building was built.
- By January 2007 the first 100 floors were completed. That was fast, wasn’t it!
- Burj Khalifa surpassed Taipei 101 to become the world’s tallest building in terms of roof height.[2]
- The exterior of Burj Khalifa that is cladding is made of glass, aluminum, and stainless steel. The cladding began in 2008.
- By June, the structure was completely built and had created the record of the tallest building in the world.
- In September 2009, the entire cladding was done.
- Burj Khalifa was officially inaugurated on January 4, 2010.
You might be wondering that this is going to be the tallest building for a long time. You are wrong! Dubai has planned many more buildings taller than the Burj Khalifa and by 2071, Burj Khalifa would be the shortest building in Dubai! Fascinating, right?
Am not kidding, the future of Dubai is envisioned in the Museum of the Future, where you can see this with your own eyes!
